OVERVIEW
Tucked away in the foothills of San Jose del Cabo is Acre, a lush retreat set on 25 acres of abundant land featuring 12 rustic and luxurious treehouses, an organic farm, an award-winning bar and restaurant and an animal rescue sanctuary—need we say more? At the heart of the Acre experience is the restaurant and bar which epitomize the property’s deep respect for its surroundings and free-spirited sensibility. Enjoy a seasonally evolving menu—a marriage of global influence and local ingredients—and an inventive cocktail program (don’t miss the property’s own line of house Mezcal—tastings can also be arranged).
WHY WE LOVE IT
The epitome of barefoot luxury, Acre’s treehouse accommodations offer a rustic jungle experience with all the comforts of a boutique hotel. Fall asleep to the soothing sounds of the Baja breeze and wake up to the sun seeping through the thatched treehouse walls. Reservations include daily breakfast, morning yoga and the ability to enjoy everything the grounds have to offer—and yes, this means meeting the entire Acre animal family including Burrito, the resident donkey.
ACRE DOGS + ANIMAL SANCTUARY
What started out as six stray puppies nursed back to health on Acre land, has become Acre Dogs; a volunteer run, non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates stray dogs from the streets of Cabo and finds them loving homes in Canada and the US. The property also has an animal sanctuary home to donkeys, horses, pygmy goats, free-roaming peacocks and more. The best part? Animal-guest interactions are encouraged and guests are welcome to lend a helping hand to help with the healing and socialization of the animals.
LOCATION
Located off the Cabo beaten path, 10 minutes outside San José del Cabo in the foothills of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains and just minutes from local favorite, Flora Farms.
