OVERVIEW
A bright spot in one of the world’s most vibrant cities, El Fenn Marrakech is a wildly beloved Moroccan hangout in the heart of the medina. With 31 gorgeously styled guestrooms, three pools, a 7000 square foot rooftop terrace and a boutique so well curated, it’s a destination in its own right, you would be hard pressed to find a more idyllic home away from home from which to discover the beauty of Marrakech. With a significant expansion underway, in fall 2020, El Fenn will unveil 14 new suites alongside a rooftop lap pool, wine cellar, gym/yoga studio and state-of-the-art orangery which will double as a winter restaurant.
WHY WE LOVE IT
Whether you’re a guest of the hotel or not, the expansive rooftop terrace at sundown is a must-do. Boasting sun decks, shaded day beds, plunge pools, a seasonally rotating menu (with ingredients sourced from owner Vanessa Branson’s organic gardens) and arguably Marrakech’s best views. We also love that community and sustainability are at the core of the hotel’s values. El Fenn’s 90+ staff are all from the local area and minimizing environmental impact on a country that faces challenges like water scarcity is a priority. Four years ago, the hotel reduced single use plastics by installing a water filtration system. Bathroom products are local and organic and in late 2020, the hotel is launching a tree planting initiative in the Atlas Mountains to offset the carbon emissions tied to air travel.
LOCATION
El Fenn is tucked away down a side alley right next to Bab El Ksour, in the heart of the medina. Just a 15 minute drive from Marrakech Menara airport and a short walk from the souks and most of the city’s main attractions.
